Nine Elms is located in the London Borough of Wandsworth on the River Thames between Battersea and Vauxhall. In the past the area was an industrial part of London, but recently has been transformed to more residential and commercial in it`s make up. Battersea Power Station is the main focal point of the area, but recently the U.S. embassy in London stated that it would be it relocate it`s embassy from Mayfair to the area in 2017, also the Dutch embassy will moving to Nine Elms soon too.
Vauxhall is an area of mix use of residential and commercial properties and contains an array of light industry, offices and government buildings. The riverside part of Vauxhall has undergone some major redevelopment with residences and offices being the focus and most notably the MI6 building at Vauxhall Cross. Vauxhall also has a vibrant gay scene, with a growing number of gay nightclubs and bars including Barcode, Chariots, Crash and The Eagle.
