Hourly hire with a car and driver Time for your plans.

Reserve a car and driver for appointments, shopping, meetings or flexible stops. Your quote sets out the time, mileage allowance and agreed extras. Talk to our 24-hour office about the right arrangement.

HOW IT WORKS

Reserved time, with room to change plans

Hourly hire reserves a car and driver for an agreed period. You can plan several stops or keep the itinerary flexible. Waiting and traffic within that period use the hourly clock; the same minutes are not charged again as ordinary waiting.

The quote sets out the minimum, rate, included mileage, extension and cancellation terms, and agreed extras before you accept. The booking ends at the agreed final drop-off or release, not with hidden travel back to the driver's home or office.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT ARRANGEMENT

Choose how to travel

Keep a driver for flexible plans, or compare a journey and return if your timings are more definite.

Flexible stops

Reserve the car and driver for appointments, shopping, meetings, sightseeing or social stops. A broad outline is enough to start; an exact itinerary is optional.

Timed journey with return

For a definite outward trip, compare a fixed journey with paid waiting against a separate approximate return. Alternatively, contact the office when you are ready to leave; a car is subject to availability, not guaranteed immediately.

Know what your quote covers

Agree the reserved period, mileage and any parking, toll or access costs with the office. Known unavoidable costs are included in the quote, so you can compare the arrangements on their actual terms.

BEFORE YOU CONTACT US

A clear outline helps us plan

Give the office your collection address, date and start time, planned stops, likely finish and final drop-off or release point. Tell us the number of passengers, luggage, vehicle preferences and any access or assistance needs. Flight, train or venue details can help when they affect the plan; you do not need a fixed itinerary. KB Cars is registered with the ICO. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your booking information.

  • For plans outside London, agree the start and finish and any positioning or distance implications before acceptance.
  • Reserved time is normally paid before dispatch unless approved account terms apply. An enquiry, quote or payment alone does not confirm a booking: KB sends confirmation by SMS and/or email.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions before you reserve time

Understand the clock, costs and options before you reserve.

Is waiting included in hourly hire?

Yes. Waiting and traffic during the paid period use the hourly clock; they are not a free pause, and the same minutes are not charged again as ordinary waiting.

What happens if I finish early?

The reserved period normally remains payable while the vehicle is available, so early release does not automatically reprice it as a single transfer. Tell the office if plans change: unused time can be reviewed against the actual loss, saved costs and any replacement work.

Can I extend the booking or add a stop?

You can request an extension or extra stop, subject to availability and office acceptance. The booker or designated authorised contact can contact the office or have the driver relay the request. The office checks availability and any revised price and confirms an accepted change in the booking record.

Contact us as soon as an overrun is likely. Longer extensions may need another driver; do not arrange an unrecorded new hire directly with the driver.

Should I book hourly hire or a return journey?

Hourly hire suits flexible stops or an uncertain finish. For a more definite plan, a fixed journey with paid waiting or a separate approximate return may suit you. The office can compare them; neither is always cheaper.

A separate return does not automatically retain the outward car. If you are delayed, contact the office: applicable waiting or changes can affect the cost.

How is hourly hire priced?

Your quote sets out the hourly rate, reserved time, included mileage and agreed extras. The standard minimum is 60 minutes for standard, executive and ordinary six-seater vehicles; explicitly luxury chauffeur bookings have a 120-minute minimum, while larger or special vehicles are quoted.

The allowance is 10 miles per paid hour, pooled across the booking, with a proportionate allowance for paid extensions. A disclosed extra-mile rate applies only above that allowance. Extra used minutes are charged at the confirmed hourly rate divided by 60, without automatic full-hour or 15- or 30-minute rounding.

When does the hourly clock start?

It normally starts at the agreed collection time when the car and driver are ready; an early arrival does not start it early. If KB is late, time starts when the car and driver are actually ready, and the office will agree a revised end or an appropriate adjustment for lost availability.

If the customer is late, the clock normally runs from the agreed start when the driver is ready and the contact and location details are correct. KB operational interruptions, such as refuelling or vehicle faults, do not add customer time.

Can I cancel an hourly booking?

Standard hourly reservations can be cancelled free at least 24 hours before the start. Inside 24 hours, or for a genuine no-show, any charge is based on reasonable unrecovered loss, capped at the reserved price and reduced by saved costs and mitigation. Special commitments may have separate terms disclosed before acceptance.

Short-notice bookings are welcome, with their terms shown before acceptance. If KB cannot provide the agreed service, the office will offer a suitable accepted alternative or cancel and refund the unprovided service.
