KB CARS · HOSPITAL JOURNEYS
Travel to or from the Carshalton hospital for an appointment or visit. Our 24-hour office can help plan your entrance and return and give you a journey-specific quote. Call 020 8870 8888 to discuss your trip.
Find your destination
St Helier Hospital is on Wrythe Lane, Carshalton, SM5 1AA. Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children is on the St Helier site; it is not Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, which has a different address and travel guide.
Give us the building and entrance in your visit instructions, rather than just “Queen Mary’s” or “St Helier”. Check the current site instructions and discuss the vehicle approach with our office. Site access and limited parking do not mean KB has a reserved bay or a right to wait there.
Plan your visit
Our office can help agree the practical travel arrangements for your visit.
Use your visit instructions to identify the site, building and entrance, and tell us your required arrival time. You do not need to share a diagnosis or appointment letter.
Include companions, mobility equipment and any assistance you need so the office can confirm a suitable arrangement. We carry folding wheelchairs where suitable, but do not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
Agree a pickup time or a plan to contact the office when ready. A return does not automatically include a waiting driver; ask about availability, the quote and any charges.
The journey home
Give the exact return building, including the children’s hospital if applicable, and agree a collection point with the office. The general site name alone may not identify where you will be.
You can contact us once you are ready, subject to an available car; arrange a paid wait-and-return with the driver waiting outside; or book a separate return for an approximate time. If you are delayed, contact the office: waiting or changes can affect the cost. A separate return does not automatically retain the outward driver or vehicle.
Booked wait-and-return is paid waiting from the start. Waiting after a separate return pickup can also be charged under the applicable pickup policy. Ask the office about the current rate, any allowance and when charging starts. We can help you compare the arrangements before booking.
Other ways to travel
The hospital identifies bus 157 as a connection from Morden. Check the current service, stop and route to your building, including the walking involved for you and any companion or mobility equipment.
Hospital inter-site or patient transport has its own conditions. Ask the hospital directly about eligibility and arrangements; it is not included with KB private hire.
Travel with the right support
We welcome enquiries for journeys anywhere, including outside London. Advance booking gives the office more time to arrange your journey, but short-notice enquiries are welcome and depend on an available car.
We can carry folding wheelchairs where suitable, but currently have no wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Tell the office the folded size, other luggage, boarding needs and any assistance you need so we can confirm a suitable arrangement before booking.
Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free. Telling the office beforehand helps us arrange a driver able to help. If you need an optional additional escort to or inside a building, shopping centre or flat, discuss the task with the office; this may be free or carry a charge agreed in advance.
Hospital travel hubGOOD TO KNOW
Practical answers for arranging your journey with KB Cars.
Yes. A companion or child can travel with you, subject to a suitable vehicle and arrangements. Tell the office the total passenger count and any child-seat or equipment needs. Arrange separately any help your companion will provide inside the hospital.
You can contact us when ready, arrange paid wait-and-return, or book a separate return around an approximate time. A car requested when ready depends on availability; waiting or changes may add to the cost of a pre-booked return. The office can help you choose.
No. KB offers ordinary private hire for appointments, visits and agreed collections, not emergency, clinical or hospital-organised patient transport. Contact the hospital about its own transport process; do not rely on private hire for medical support.
Give us your pickup address, hospital building and entrance, date, required arrival time, passenger count and practical vehicle requirements. You do not need to send medical records, a diagnosis or treatment details for a travel enquiry. KB Cars is registered with the ICO. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your booking information.
Yes. You can bring and fit your own suitable child seat, or ask the office to arrange one. A KB-supplied seat has a £3 offer for airport journeys and non-airport pre-bookings over £50. Local and short-notice supply depends on availability; for other bookings, check the price with the office.
Discuss the child’s seat requirements, suitability, the number of seats and the total charge before booking.
Tell the office about furniture or other large objects before booking so we can discuss the arrangement. A large passenger vehicle is not automatically a moving service. Undeclared bulky loads may incur extra charges, and the driver is not expected to load them.
Ask the office for a quote using your full pickup and destination addresses, travel date and time, passenger numbers and vehicle or luggage needs. The price can vary with travel time, including peak periods; a postcode alone does not establish the fare.
For a return, confirm each leg and whether the driver will wait. Ask what the quote includes and what waiting, parking or other agreed extras would cost.
Talk it through
Call our 24-hour office on 020 8870 8888 to discuss your journey, availability and quote. An enquiry or quote is not a confirmed booking: KB confirms bookings by SMS and/or email.
