STARTING IN SW19

School journeys built around your schedule

KB Cars arranges parent-booked school journeys from SW19 and welcomes government and council enquiries. Choose a morning or afternoon run, one direction, selected weekdays or term-time travel; occasional cover and one-off journeys can also be discussed.

Tell us the destination school's full name and the actual home and school entrances. Wimbledon station on The Broadway or Haydons Road station can help identify an area, but give the actual door or meeting point too: a landmark does not grant permission to stop. We can discuss a lawful alternative and any School Street access arrangements.

A parent can accompany the child, continue onward or be dropped off first when agreed. Our office will discuss the journey and support needed before giving you a tailored quote. An enquiry, quote or payment alone does not confirm a booking; KB confirms it by SMS and/or email.

BEFORE THE FIRST RUN

Plan the journey and handover

Before the first run, we agree an individual plan with the authorised booker and, where relevant, the school or commissioner.

Agree the support

Tell us how your child communicates, boards, sits and travels comfortably, including relevant sensory and restraint needs. Agree whether a parent or passenger assistant will accompany them and what support they will provide. KB Cars is registered with the ICO; our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

Set the handover

Agree the schedule, exact entrances, authorised adults and backup contacts. We verify the child and receiving person under the plan; an app invitation or PIN alone does not give someone handover authority.

Plan for changes and disruption

The plan covers verified changes, delays, a missing child, distress and replacement arrangements. If a recipient is late or contact fails, the child is not left alone: the office follows the agreed safe procedure. Immediate danger requires emergency action.

For clubs, exams or one-off days For a club, exam or one-off day, tell us the actual finish time and collection plan so the office can arrange the journey rather than assume the usual schedule applies.

SUPPORT AND DRIVER CHOICE

Arrange the support your child needs

A passenger assistant (PA) can help with boarding, communication, supervision, agreed responses to distress and handover while the driver concentrates on driving. You can provide a PA or ask KB to source one. The assistant needs a passenger seat and clear responsibilities in the plan.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags can be arranged without charge; tell the office what help is needed so it can coordinate a suitable driver. Weight-bearing lifting, personal care, medication, specialist equipment or physical intervention require separately competent arrangements before acceptance.

You can request the same driver. If a genuine problem requires a replacement, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs the parent. Drivers assigned to the school service complete KB's school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan.

GOOD TO KNOW

School run questions

Choose the arrangement that works for your child and family.

Can my child travel without a parent or PA?

Some children can travel with the driver; others need a PA or another agreed adult. There is no blanket age-alone rule: the office assesses the journey, supervision and handover individually, including any independent arrival arrangement for an older child.

Can siblings share a school run?

Yes, if the vehicle, stop order and handover plan are suitable. Unrelated families can share only with each guardian's consent, agreed route and change authority, and private family-specific updates. We do not put separate families into one app household or expose their addresses and support information through shared tracking. If an assistant escorts one child inside, the plan must also cover children remaining in the car.

What if the school day or finish time changes?

The authorised booker or designated contact can request a change or report an absence through the office or agreed channel, including phone or app. Prior-day notice is encouraged where possible. Receipt of a request is not acceptance: wait for confirmation of the actual change, including revised collection details and any charge under the agreed terms. If a time-critical message has not been acknowledged, call the office.

Can you help with a council-arranged journey?

Yes. We welcome government and council contract enquiries as well as parent-booked journeys. The commissioner, school and family may have different authority and acceptance requirements; send the proposed route, entrances, schedule and responsible contact for assessment.

Can I arrange a child seat or discuss mobility needs?

Yes. You can bring a suitable child seat or ask KB to arrange one in advance, subject to availability and suitability; tell the office the child's relevant seat requirements and ask about the cost. KB currently has no wheelchair-accessible vehicles. A folding chair may travel as luggage where suitable, but the child cannot travel seated in it, so discuss boarding and seating with the office.
