Considering rail instead? Gatwick’s railway station is at South Terminal; from North Terminal, use the free inter-terminal shuttle. Southern connects Gatwick with Clapham Junction and Victoria; Thameslink serves London Bridge, Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and St Pancras; and Gatwick Express runs to Victoria. These are airport-end links, so plan your interchange and the walking legs to your actual Carshalton destination.
