CHOOSE YOUR ARRANGEMENT

A school journey that fits your timetable

Arrange a morning or afternoon journey from KT10, in one direction or on selected weekdays. We can discuss term-time schedules, occasional cover and one-off trips for clubs, exams or changed finish times. A parent can accompany the child, continue onward or be dropped off first if agreed.

Tell us the destination school and the entrance or gate, as well as the KT10 collection point. We can discuss any School Street restrictions and the actual access arrangements; a school or station address alone does not establish where a vehicle may stop.

Siblings can share a suitable arrangement. For children from unrelated families, each guardian must consent and agree the route and change authority; family-specific updates remain private.

BEFORE THE FIRST RUN

Agree the plan before the first run

We agree the schedule, handover and support with the person authorised to arrange your child’s journey. KB Cars is registered with the ICO; our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

Set the journey and support

Agree the collection address, school entrance, days, times and any stops. Include the child’s communication, seating, restraint and assistance needs, emergency contacts and whether a parent or passenger assistant will travel.

Plan collection and handover

Name the authorised booker and receiving adults. Agree how the child and recipient are checked, how changes to instructions are verified, and what happens if a child or recipient is absent, delayed or distressed.

Agree how changes are handled

The authorised contact can request absences or changes by phone or the agreed app route. Prior-day notice is encouraged and agreed fees may apply. Receipt of a request is not acceptance: the office confirms the actual change and informs those affected. For an urgent change, call if a message has not been acknowledged.

Support when it is needed You can provide a passenger assistant or ask KB to source one. We will agree the role and the support your child needs as part of the journey plan.

PRACTICAL SUPPORT

Support for your child’s journey

Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication preferences, sensory triggers, boarding, seating and handover needs. A passenger assistant can support boarding, communication, supervision and the agreed handover while the driver concentrates on driving. The assistant needs a proper passenger seat, and the whole route is assessed together.

Whether you provide an assistant or ask KB to source one, responsibilities must fit the plan. Medication, weight-bearing transfers, personal care and physical intervention require a separate plan and relevant competence and training before acceptance. KB does not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles; a folded chair may travel as luggage where suitable, but the child must be able to board and travel in a passenger seat.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions parents ask about KT10 school runs

Practical answers for planning your child’s journey and handover.

What should I include in the enquiry?

Give us the KT10 collection address, destination school and entrance, days and times, and whether the journey is term-time or occasional. Include passengers, stops and any changed-finish plan, plus authorised contacts and relevant seating, restraint or support needs.

The office will discuss the arrangement and tailored price. An enquiry, quote or payment alone does not confirm a booking; the booking is confirmed when KB sends confirmation by SMS or email.

Can I request the same driver?

Yes. Ask for a same-driver arrangement when discussing the plan. If a genuine problem requires a replacement, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs you; continuity cannot be guaranteed in every circumstance.

Can I use Esher or Claygate station as the pickup point?

Yes, a station meeting point can be discussed as part of the agreed journey. Esher station is on Station Road, KT10 8DY; Claygate station is on The Parade, KT10 0PB. Give the exact proposed meeting point and tell us if walking or platform access matters. A station address does not establish a school route or permission for vehicle access.

What if the authorised adult is late?

The child is not left alone because an adult is delayed or a PIN fails. Contact the office: the agreed plan covers a missed recipient, failed code and verification of changed instructions. Handover is checked against the authorised arrangements, and an urgent welfare concern follows the appropriate escalation route; immediate danger requires emergency services.

Can my child use a child seat?

Yes. You can bring your own suitable seat or ask KB to arrange one in advance, subject to availability and suitability. Tell the office your child’s age, relevant height, weight and seat needs so the arrangement and any charge can be confirmed.

THE PEOPLE AND THE PLAN

An office that supports the arrangement

Drivers assigned to our school service complete KB’s school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan. Our 24-hour office is available to help with the arrangement; an app is not required.

We arrange school transport for families and also consider school or council commission enquiries.
