SCHOOL TRANSPORT

School transport from KT20

Arrange a recurring school journey around your child’s timetable and handover needs. Our 24-hour office will discuss your plans and provide a tailored quote.

PLAN THE JOURNEY

A school journey that fits your family

Arrange morning or afternoon school transport from KT20, in one or both directions. We can discuss selected weekdays, term-time schedules, occasional cover, one-off journeys, clubs, exams and changed finish times. A parent can accompany the child, continue onward or be dropped off first when agreed.

KT20 is an origin area, not a single pickup point. Tadworth or Kingswood station can be a useful landmark, but give us the actual door or meeting point. Tell us the destination school and exact entrance; we will check relevant School Street restrictions and private access as part of the plan. Private-hire status is not a blanket exemption.

BEFORE THE FIRST RUN

Agree the routine before the first run

Our office agrees an individual travel plan with the authorised booker and, where relevant, the school or commissioner. KB Cars is registered with the ICO; our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

Agree the child’s plan

Give us the collection address, school entrance, days and timings, and tell us about seating, support, accompanying adults and backup contacts. The plan also covers absence, delay, distress and what to do if a child is missing or a recipient cannot be reached.

Confirm collection and handover

Agree the collection point and named authorised receiving adult or organisation. Changes to the recipient are verified through the office; tracking access or a PIN alone does not authorise a different handover. If a recipient is late or a code fails, the child remains supervised while the agreed escalation plan is followed.

Coordinate changes with the office

The authorised booker or contact can request an absence or change through the office. Acknowledgement of a request is not acceptance: wait for confirmation of the revised arrangement. If a replacement driver is needed, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs you.

SUPPORT THAT FITS THE PLAN

Tell us what helps your child travel well

Tell us how your child communicates, what helps them feel comfortable, and any sensory, mobility, seating or handover needs. Consider support while the car is moving and at each stop. A passenger assistant can help with boarding, communication, supervision and handover while the driver concentrates on driving. You can provide an assistant or ask KB to source one; suitability and responsibilities are agreed before acceptance.

You can bring your own suitable child seat or ask us to arrange one in advance, subject to availability and suitability. Tell the office your child’s relevant seat requirements and ask about the cost. An accompanying parent or assistant needs a passenger seat.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free; telling the office in advance helps us arrange suitable assistance. A folding wheelchair travels as luggage: KB does not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles, so discuss boarding and seating. Specialist care, medication, weight-bearing lifting or transfers require separately suitable competence and a plan.

GOOD TO KNOW

School-run questions

Practical answers for planning and managing a school journey from KT20.

Can I book only selected days or changed finish times?

Yes. We can discuss selected weekdays, term-time travel, occasional cover, clubs, exams and changed finish times. A later change to the time or destination must be accepted and confirmed by the office; it is not automatic.

What happens if the authorised adult is late?

The child stays supervised while the office follows the agreed plan. That plan includes the named receiving adult, backup contacts and escalation steps; a late adult or failed code is not a reason to leave the child alone. Please remain reachable.

How do I report an absence or urgent change?

A parent can request an absence or change by phone or app. Please give notice the previous day where possible; fees may apply under the agreed terms. The office may acknowledge receipt first, but the change is only agreed when it confirms the actual revised arrangement. For a time-critical change, call if your message has not been confirmed.

What if the usual driver cannot do the run?

You can request the same driver. If an emergency or other genuine problem requires a replacement, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs you; the same driver cannot be guaranteed in every circumstance. Drivers assigned to the school service complete KB’s school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan.

When is the school journey confirmed?

The booking is confirmed when KB sends confirmation by SMS and/or email. An enquiry, quote or payment alone does not confirm a car. The office first discusses the child’s journey and support needs and provides a tailored quote.

Can children share a school run?

Siblings can share a suitable arrangement. For children from different families, each guardian must consent, and the route, change authority and private family-specific updates must be agreed. Shared tracking must not expose another family’s address, support records or messages.

YOUR ARRANGEMENTS

Enquiries from families and commissioners

We arrange school transport for families and welcome school or council commission enquiries. Each arrangement is assessed and agreed for the child and journey; contact our office to discuss what you need.
