SCHOOL TRAVEL FROM KT21

A school run that fits your family

We arrange morning or afternoon school journeys from KT21, including one-way runs, selected weekdays, term-time travel, one-off cover and changed finish times. Tell us the collection address, destination school, entrance, days and timings: KT21 identifies the starting area, not a particular school route.

A parent can accompany their child, continue onward or be dropped off first when agreed. You can request the same driver for regular runs; if a replacement is needed, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs the parent. Drivers assigned to our school service complete KB’s school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan.

BEFORE THE FIRST RUN

Agree your child’s travel plan

Before the first journey, we agree the practical arrangements with the authorised booker and, where relevant, the school or commissioner.

Agree the child’s travel plan

We record the route and timetable, authorised contacts, seating and support needs, and emergency or backup contacts. The plan covers absence, delay, refusal or distress, a missing child, no available recipient and replacement arrangements. KB Cars is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

Confirm collection and handover

We agree who may collect or receive your child and how their identity and any changed instructions are checked. App access or a PIN alone does not give someone handover authority.

Keep changes with the office

An authorised contact can request an absence or change through the office or app. Receipt is not acceptance: wait for confirmation of the actual change. Give notice the day before where possible; agreed fees may apply. For an urgent change, call the office if your message has not been acknowledged.

SUPPORT THAT FITS THE PLAN

Agree the right support

Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication, sensory preferences, boarding, seating, restraint and handover. A parent or agreed passenger assistant (PA) can accompany them, or you can ask KB to source a PA. We agree the assistant’s role and route; the PA has a seat and can support boarding, communication, supervision and handover while the driver concentrates on driving.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are available without charge. Tell the office about the help needed in advance so it can arrange a suitable driver. Medication, lifting, personal care, specialist equipment or physical intervention require an individual plan and the right competence before acceptance. KB does not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles: a folded chair may travel as luggage, but the child must be able to board and sit safely.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions parents ask about KT21 school runs

Answers to common questions about planning, handover and support.

Does KT21 identify the school route?

No. KT21 is the starting area, not a named school route. Give us the full collection address, destination school and exact entrance so we can agree a workable approach and handover. Tell us about any School Street restrictions so access can be checked.

Can I book selected days or changed finish times?

Yes. We can discuss mornings or afternoons, selected weekdays, term-time travel, occasional cover, clubs, exams and changed finish times. An authorised contact can request an absence or change through the office or app; the change is agreed only when the office confirms the actual revised arrangement.

Who can receive my child?

The adults or organisation authorised in your child’s travel plan can receive them. We agree how identity and changed instructions are checked. Tracking access or a PIN alone does not change handover authority. If nobody is available, the child is not left alone: the office follows the agreed safe procedure.

Can you arrange a passenger assistant?

Yes. You may provide an assistant or ask KB to source one; we agree the role, route and responsibilities first. A driver or ordinary assistant is not automatically trained for medication, lifting, personal care or specialist equipment, so those needs require the right individual plan and competence before acceptance.

Can my child use a child seat?

Yes. You can bring a suitable seat or ask us to arrange one in advance, subject to availability and suitability. Tell the office your child’s age and relevant height, weight and restraint needs; the office can confirm the arrangement and any cost.

Can children share a school run?

Siblings can share a suitable arrangement. For children from different families, each guardian must consent, and the route, authority for changes and private family-specific updates must be agreed.

QUOTES AND BOOKINGS

A tailored quote for your arrangement

Our office quotes for the agreed route, schedule and support. We arrange journeys for families and welcome school or council commission enquiries.

An enquiry or quote alone does not confirm a booking. KB confirms an accepted booking by SMS and/or email. You can contact the office without installing an app.
