SCHOOL JOURNEYS · KT4

School runs from KT4 A plan for your child.

Arrange recurring school transport from KT4 around your child’s school and timetable. Our 24-hour office will discuss the journey, handover and support, then provide a tailored quote.

FROM KT4

School transport that fits your timetable

Arrange morning or afternoon school journeys from KT4, in one direction or both, on selected weekdays or during term time. We can also discuss one-off journeys, occasional cover, clubs, exams and changed finish times. A parent can accompany the child, continue onward or be dropped off first by agreement.

KT4 is the starting area, not a fixed school route. For a tailored quote, tell our office the full collection address, destination school and entrance, days and times. We’ll assess the journey and discuss the schedule, handover and support before the first run. You can request the same driver; if a replacement is needed, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs you.

A CLEAR PLAN

Agree the journey before the first run

We agree an individual travel plan with the authorised booker and, where relevant, the school or commissioner.

Agree the child’s plan

We agree the route, timetable and support, including who accompanies your child and what helps them travel comfortably. Tell us about communication, boarding, seating and restraint needs.

Set collection and handover

Agree the exact collection point and school entrance, authorised receiving adults and backup contacts. We’ll check relevant School Street access and permissions and plan how changed instructions are verified. A PIN or app access alone does not authorise a different handover.

Plan for changes and disruption

The plan covers absence, delay, a missing child, distress, no recipient and replacement arrangements. The authorised contact can request changes through the office or agreed app channel; a request is not in place until the office confirms the accepted change.

SUPPORT THAT FITS THE JOURNEY

Support for your child’s journey

Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication, sensory preferences, walking, boarding, seating, restraint and handover. We agree support for the individual journey: a passenger assistant (PA) may be appropriate, and a driver alone is not always enough. KB Cars is registered with the ICO; our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

You can provide an assistant or ask KB to source one. A PA occupies a passenger seat and can support agreed boarding, communication, supervision and handover while the driver concentrates on driving. We agree the responsibilities of a parent-supplied or KB-sourced assistant as part of the plan.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free; telling the office in advance helps us arrange suitable help. Lifting, medication, personal care, specialist equipment or physical intervention need an appropriate individual plan and competent support. KB does not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles; a folded chair may travel as luggage where suitable, but your child cannot travel seated in it. Boarding and seating must be agreed.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions parents ask about KT4 school runs

Answers to common questions about planning and managing your child’s journey.

Can you arrange more than one collection address in KT4?

Yes, if the route and handover arrangements are suitable. Give us each full address, preferred order, passengers and timings. Siblings can share an agreed arrangement. For unrelated families, each guardian must consent; we agree route and change authority and keep family information and updates separate. If a passenger assistant escorts one child inside, the plan must also cover any children remaining in the car.

What if nobody is at the agreed school handover?

Your child is not left alone. The driver and office follow the agreed contact and escalation plan, keeping your child supervised while the authorised recipient is clarified. Backup contacts and a verified process for changing the recipient are part of the plan.

Can the timetable change during term?

Yes. An authorised parent or contact can request an absence or timetable change by phone or the agreed app route. Please give notice the previous day where possible; agreed terms may affect the charge. Acknowledgment means the request was received, not accepted: the change is in place only when the office confirms the actual revised arrangement. For a time-critical change, call the office if your message has not been acknowledged.

Do you arrange council-funded or school contracts?

We welcome school and council commission enquiries as well as family bookings. A family booking does not establish council eligibility, funding or an existing school contract. If a school or council is involved, share its requirements so the office can assess the arrangement separately.

Can my child use a child seat?

Yes. You can bring your own suitable seat or ask KB to arrange one in advance, subject to availability and suitability. Tell the office your child’s age and relevant height, weight and restraint needs; the office can confirm the seat arrangement and any cost.

BOOKING YOUR SCHOOL RUN

From enquiry to confirmed arrangement

Our office will discuss your plan and provide a quote for the agreed journey and support. An enquiry or quote is not a confirmed booking: KB confirms the booking by SMS and/or email. You can contact the office without installing an app.

Drivers assigned to our school service complete KB’s school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan.
