School transport from KT5 A plan for your child

Arrange recurring school runs with a plan for your child’s journey and handover. Contact our 24-hour office to discuss the school and schedule for a tailored quote.

STARTING IN KT5

From KT5 to the right school entrance

KT5 is the starting area, not a named school route or catchment. We arrange morning and afternoon journeys, one-way or return, for selected weekdays, term time or occasional cover. Tell us the destination school and the pattern you need so the office can provide a tailored quote.

Give us the actual collection address and school entrance: a local landmark can help identify the area but is not a collection point or destination. Tell us about any known stopping or access considerations, including School Street restrictions, so the office can discuss a lawful, workable arrangement. You can request the same driver; if cover is needed, the office arranges a suitable approved replacement and informs you.

BEFORE THE FIRST RUN

Agree the journey before the first run

We agree an individual travel plan with the authorised booker and, where relevant, the school or commissioner.

Agree the travel plan

Share the collection address, school entrance, days and times, and whether a parent or passenger assistant travels. The plan records the child’s communication, seating, mobility and support needs, authorised adults, backup contacts and how changed instructions are verified. KB Cars is registered with the ICO; our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

Confirm the handover

Agree how the child and authorised receiving person will be checked. Driver and vehicle information or a PIN can help with identification, but a PIN or tracking access does not authorise a handover. If no recipient is available, the child is not left alone: the office follows the agreed safe supervision and escalation plan.

Keep changes with the office

The plan covers absences, delays, changed entrances or adults, distress, a missing child and replacement arrangements. An authorised contact requests material changes through the agreed office route; receipt is not acceptance. The office confirms an accepted change and informs those affected.

AGREED SUPPORT

Support that matches the child

Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication, sensory preferences, boarding, seating, restraint and handover needs. We discuss support while driving, at each stop and if the usual plan changes. A parent can provide a passenger assistant (PA), or ask KB to source one; the role and responsibilities are agreed before travel. A PA occupies a passenger seat.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free. Tell the office about the help needed so it can coordinate a suitable arrangement. Medication, personal care, weight-bearing transfers, specialist equipment or physical intervention require an individual plan, appropriate competence and cover. KB does not provide wheelchair-accessible vehicles: a folded wheelchair can travel as luggage where suitable, but the child must be able to board and travel safely in a seat.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions parents ask about KT5 school runs

Practical answers about schedules, accompanying adults and changes to your child’s run.

Can a school run be one-way or only on selected weekdays?

Yes. Choose one direction or a return, selected weekdays, term-time runs, occasional cover or a one-off journey. Clubs, exams and changed finish times can also be discussed so the plan reflects the school day.

Can a parent travel or be dropped off first?

Yes, when agreed in advance. A parent may accompany the child, continue onward or be dropped off first. Include the extra passenger, stop order and timing in your enquiry so the office can assess the complete journey.

What if the child is absent or the finish time changes?

An authorised contact should tell the office through the agreed route as soon as possible; prior-day notice is encouraged where possible. An acknowledgement means the request was received, not that the change has been accepted. The office confirms the updated arrangement if accepted. For a time-critical change, call if your message has not been confirmed; agreed terms may affect charges.

Can siblings share a school run?

Yes, if the route, stop order and handover cover suit everyone. For children from different families, each guardian’s consent, change authority and private updates must be agreed separately. One family must not see another’s addresses or support details; the plan must also cover children remaining in the car if a PA escorts someone inside.

Can I provide a child seat for the school run?

Yes. You can bring your own suitable seat or ask KB to arrange one by pre-booking, subject to availability and suitability. Tell the office your child’s age and relevant height, weight and restraint needs, and ask about the applicable price.

When is my school journey confirmed?

The booking is confirmed when KB sends confirmation by SMS and/or email. An enquiry, quote or payment alone does not confirm a car; the office will discuss the journey and any special terms before acceptance.

YOUR ARRANGEMENTS

A team briefed on the agreed journey

Drivers assigned to our school service complete KB’s school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan. We arrange journeys for families and welcome school or council commission enquiries.
