SCHOOL TRANSPORT

School runs from KT9 A plan built around your child.

Arrange recurring school pickups around your child's school and timetable. Discuss the journey and support with our 24-hour office for a tailored quote.

FLEXIBLE SCHOOL JOURNEYS

A school run that fits your child's routine

From a KT9 home, we can arrange a morning or afternoon school journey, in one direction or both, on selected weekdays or during term time. Ask about occasional cover, changed finish times or one-off journeys for clubs and exams. A parent can accompany the child, continue onward or be dropped off first when agreed.

Tell us the collection address, destination school and exact entrance or gate, along with the days and times you need. We'll discuss the journey and provide a tailored quote. Short-notice enquiries are welcome; an enquiry, quote or payment alone does not confirm a booking. Your booking is confirmed when we send confirmation by SMS and/or email.

BEFORE THE FIRST RUN

Agree your child's travel plan

Our office agrees the collection, handover and support arrangements before the first journey. KB Cars is registered with the ICO. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your booking information.

Set the journey and support

Agree the schedule and stop order, who is authorised to arrange the journey, and whether a parent or passenger assistant will travel. Tell us what helps your child communicate, board and travel comfortably.

Agree a safe handover

Name the authorised receiving person or organisation and backup contacts, and agree how changed instructions are verified. The driver checks the child and handover against the plan; a tracking invitation or PIN does not itself authorise a handover.

Plan for changes

Agree what happens if a child is missing or distressed, a recipient is unavailable, a journey is delayed or a driver needs replacing. Drivers assigned to our school service complete KB's school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan.

SUPPORT FOR YOUR CHILD

Support agreed around the individual

Tell us about communication, sensory, boarding, seating, restraint and handover needs, including what helps if a routine changes. A passenger assistant can help with supervision and communication while the driver concentrates on driving. You can provide an assistant or ask KB to source one; the plan sets out their responsibilities and provides a proper passenger seat.

Ordinary help such as guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags is free. Tell the office about the help your child needs in advance where possible so arrangements can be coordinated. Medication, personal care, weight-bearing transfers, specialist equipment or physical intervention require an individual plan, appropriate competence and cover before acceptance. KB does not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles; a folding chair may travel as luggage where suitable, but not with the child seated in it.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions about school runs from KT9

Answers to common questions about arranging your child's journey.

Can you arrange a school run from any part of KT9?

You can enquire about a collection from anywhere in KT9. We'll discuss the full address, destination school, exact entrance, days, timings and stop order before agreeing the journey. KT9 is the origin area, not a named school route; a parent-booked journey is separate from council eligibility or a school contract.

Tell us about any School Street restrictions so we can check the relevant access and agree a practical collection or handover point. Private hire does not automatically confer an exemption.

Can I request a passenger assistant?

Yes. You can supply an assistant or ask KB to source one. We agree their role, seating, communication and handover in your child's plan. A driver is not automatically a specialist assistant; medication, personal care, weight-bearing transfers or physical intervention need separately assessed competence and cover before acceptance.

Will the same driver collect my child?

You can request the same driver when arranging the run. If a genuine problem requires a replacement, our office arranges a suitable approved driver and tells you. We cannot promise the same person in every circumstance.

What if plans change or nobody is at the gate?

The booker or designated authorised contact can request absences or changes through the office or appropriate app. Prior-day notice is encouraged and fees may apply under the agreed terms. An acknowledgement of your request is not acceptance: the confirmation must show the actual booking or schedule change. For a time-critical change, call the office if your message has not been confirmed.

If an authorised adult is late, a code fails or the child cannot be handed over, the driver contacts the office and follows the agreed safe escalation plan, keeping the child supervised rather than leaving them alone.

Can I arrange a child seat for the journey?

Yes. You can bring your own suitable seat or ask KB to provide one in advance, subject to availability and suitability. Tell the office your child's age and relevant height, weight and seat needs so the arrangement and any charge can be confirmed.

Can children share a school run?

Siblings can share a suitable arrangement. For children from unrelated families, each guardian must consent and the route, change authority and family-specific updates must be agreed. The plan also needs to cover supervision at each stop without sharing another family's private details.

SCHOOL TRANSPORT ENQUIRIES

Families and commissioners

We arrange parent-booked school journeys and welcome school or council commission enquiries. Contact our office to discuss the particular schedule, handover and support requirements; a private family booking does not establish council funding or eligibility.
