SCHOOL TRANSPORT FROM SM4

School runs from SM4

Arrange a school journey around your child's school, days and support needs. Contact our 24-hour office for a tailored quote and an agreed plan before the first run.

FROM SM4 TO THE SCHOOL GATE

School transport planned around your child

We arrange school pickups from SM4 for morning or afternoon travel, selected weekdays, term time or occasional cover. One-way journeys, clubs, exams and changed finish times can be discussed. Same-driver arrangements are available on request, with suitable cover if a genuine problem requires a replacement.

The office assesses your proposed journey and provides a tailored quote based on the arrangement. An enquiry, quote or payment alone is not a confirmed booking: KB confirms the booking by SMS or email. You can contact the office without installing an app.

A CLEAR PLAN FOR EACH RUN

Plan the school run before it starts

Agree the route, handover and change process with the authorised booker before the first journey.

Agree the school journey

Give the office the SM4 collection address, destination school and exact entrance, days and pickup and finish times. Tell us about communication, mobility, seating or restraint needs and whether a parent or passenger assistant (PA) will travel. Confirm any School Street access or permissions with the school; private hire is not a blanket exemption.

Confirm collection and handover

Agree the named authorised adults or receiving organisation, backup contacts and how changes to recipients are verified. App access or a PIN alone does not authorise a different person to receive your child. The plan also covers delays, a missing child, distress or no recipient, and any individually assessed independent arrival.

Keep changes with the office

The authorised contact can request absences or changed times through the agreed route. Prior-day notice is encouraged and fees may apply under the agreed terms. Receipt of a request is not acceptance: the office confirms the actual updated schedule and informs affected people. For a time-critical change, call if a message has not been acknowledged.

SUPPORT THAT FITS THE PLAN

Agree the right support for your child

Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication style, sensory preferences, boarding or seating needs and relevant emergency information. A passenger assistant can support boarding, communication, supervision, agreed responses to distress and handover while the driver concentrates on driving. SEND does not automatically mean a PA is needed; we agree the practical support with you. KB Cars is registered with the ICO. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your booking information.

You can provide an assistant or ask KB to source one. Suitability and responsibilities must be agreed before the run. Medication, weight-bearing transfers, personal care, specialist equipment or physical intervention require an appropriate individual plan, competence and training. Ordinary guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair can be arranged without charge; tell the office what help is needed. KB does not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles, so a folded chair carried as luggage does not permit travel seated in it.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions about school runs from SM4

Answers to common decisions when arranging your child's journey.

Can I book selected weekdays or occasional school cover?

Yes. Morning or afternoon journeys, one direction, selected weekdays, term-time travel, occasional cover, clubs, exams and changed finish times can all be discussed. Tell the office the pattern you need rather than assuming a fixed daily run.

Can siblings share a school run?

Yes, when the vehicle, stop order and handover plan are suitable. For children from different families, each guardian must consent; route and change authority must be agreed, and family-specific updates kept private. If a PA escorts one child inside, the plan must also cover children remaining in the car.

Can a parent or PA travel with my child?

Yes, a parent may accompany the child when agreed, and can continue onward or be dropped off first. You can provide a PA or ask KB to source one; the plan must give the PA a proper seat and clear responsibilities. A PA is arranged separately from the driver's ordinary assistance.

What happens if the usual driver cannot do a run?

If a genuine problem requires a replacement, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs the parent. You can request the same driver for the arrangement, but suitable cover may be needed when circumstances change.

Can I arrange a child seat for the journey?

Yes. You can bring a suitable seat or ask KB to supply one by pre-booking, subject to availability and suitability. Give the office your child's age, relevant height, weight and restraint needs; it can confirm the arrangement and any price.

What if the agreed adult is not there to receive my child?

The driver follows the agreed plan, maintains safe supervision and contacts the office; a child is not left alone because an adult is late, a code fails or waiting charges are disputed. The plan includes backup contacts and a risk-appropriate escalation procedure.

SCHOOL TRANSPORT ENQUIRIES

For families and commissioners

We arrange school transport for families and welcome school and council commission enquiries. Drivers assigned to our school service complete KB's school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan.
