SUPPORT THAT FITS THE PLAN
Tell us what helps your child travel
Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication, sensory preferences, boarding, seating, restraint and handover. SEND does not automatically mean a passenger assistant is needed, while some journeys need more support than a driver can provide. We agree the role and practical plan before accepting the arrangement.
You can provide a passenger assistant, or ask KB to source one. A PA has a proper passenger seat and may support boarding, communication, supervision, agreed responses to distress and handover while the driver concentrates on driving. Medication, lifting, personal care or physical intervention require separately assessed competence and an appropriate plan.
Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free. Tell the office in advance about the help needed so we can plan suitable assistance. You can bring a suitable child seat or ask KB to arrange one; discuss suitability, availability and any charge with the office. KB has no wheelchair-accessible vehicles, so a child cannot travel seated in a wheelchair; discuss boarding, seating and any folded chair with us.
