SUPPORT THAT FITS THE CHILD
Agree the right support before travel
Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication, sensory preferences or triggers, boarding, seating, restraint and handover needs. We agree the support needed on the road and at each stop. You can provide a passenger assistant (PA), or ask KB to source one; responsibilities and suitability are agreed before acceptance. A PA can help with boarding, communication, supervision and handover while the driver focuses on driving.
Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free. Tell the office in advance about the help needed so it can coordinate a suitable arrangement; this does not restrict assistance required by law. KB does not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles: carrying a folded chair does not allow travel seated in it. Agree boarding and seating needs with the office.
An optional escort inside a building is assessed for the task and may be free or carry an agreed charge. Lifting, medication, personal care, specialist equipment or physical intervention require separate assessment and competent arrangements. You can bring a suitable child seat or ask us to arrange one, subject to suitability and availability; give the office the relevant child and seat details first.
