School runs from SW8

Arrange a recurring school pickup with an agreed handover and support plan. Our 24-hour office will discuss your child's journey and provide a tailored quote.

SCHOOL RUNS FROM SW8

A school journey planned around your child

KB Cars arranges pre-booked school runs from SW8 to the school you choose, rather than a fixed route. Discuss a morning or afternoon journey, one direction or selected weekdays, with a term-time plan or occasional cover. Clubs, exams, changed finish times and one-off trips can also be arranged.

A parent can accompany the child, continue onward or be dropped off first when agreed. Tell us the destination school and its exact entrance, as well as a practical collection point. We will check the applicable School Street access and permissions rather than assume a private-hire vehicle can enter.

PLAN THE SCHOOL JOURNEY

Build the individual journey plan

Before the first run, our office agrees the plan with the authorised booker and, where relevant, the school or commissioner.

Plan the route and support

Share the SW8 collection address, destination and school entrance, days and timings. Tell us about communication, boarding, seating, restraint and support needs, and name the authorised booker and emergency and backup contacts. KB Cars is registered with the ICO. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your booking information.

Agree the handover

Name who may collect or receive your child and agree how identity and changed instructions will be verified. A tracking link or PIN alone does not authorise a different handover. The plan also covers an unavailable recipient and any individually assessed independent arrival.

Prepare for disruption

Agree what happens if your child is missing, refuses to travel or becomes distressed, or if there is a delay or driver replacement. The office checks changes with the authorised contact and informs you if a suitable replacement is needed.

Support on the journey If your child needs more support than the driver can provide, you can supply a passenger assistant or ask KB to source one. We agree the role and suitability for the individual journey.

SUPPORT THAT FITS THE PLAN

Support that fits your child

Tell us what helps your child travel comfortably, including communication and sensory preferences. A passenger assistant can help with boarding, communication, supervision, agreed responses to distress and handover while the driver drives. The assistant needs a seat, and one assistant is not automatically suitable for every shared route. A parent-supplied companion is not treated as KB-employed.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are available without charge. Tell the office about the help needed so it can arrange a suitable driver. KB does not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles; a folded chair can travel as luggage where suitable, so discuss boarding and seating too. Medication, transfers, personal care or physical intervention require separate competence and an individual plan.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions about your school run

Answers to help you choose and arrange a school journey from SW8.

Can you arrange a one-off or changing school run?

Yes. We can discuss selected weekdays, term-time plans, occasional cover, clubs, exams, changed finish times and one-off journeys. Short-notice enquiries are welcome; the office confirms availability and the agreed scope.

Can my child travel without a parent?

Yes, where the individual journey and support plan are suitable; there is no blanket arrangement for children of every age. We assess the child, journey, authorised contacts and handover, including what happens if the receiving adult is unavailable. If the driver alone is not enough, discuss a passenger assistant.

What if my child is absent or finishes late?

The authorised booker can request a change or report an absence by phone or app. Give notice the previous day where possible; fees may apply under the agreed terms. Acknowledgment of a request is not acceptance: the office confirms the actual revised schedule and informs affected people. For a time-critical change, call if your message has not been acknowledged.

If no authorised adult is available at handover, your child is not left alone. The agreed escalation plan is followed.

When is the school run actually confirmed?

The booking is confirmed when KB sends confirmation by SMS and/or email. The office assesses the addresses, dates, passengers and requirements before giving a tailored quote; an enquiry, quote or payment attempt alone is not acceptance. Bespoke school plans may need office agreement rather than instant booking.

Can I arrange a child seat?

Yes. You can bring your own suitable seat or ask KB to supply one in advance, subject to availability and suitability. Tell the office your child's age and relevant height, weight and seat needs; it will confirm the arrangement and any charge.

Can children share a school run?

Siblings can share a suitable arrangement. For children from unrelated families, each guardian must consent and agree the route and who can request changes. Family-specific updates remain private. The plan must also cover supervision of children in the car if an assistant escorts another child inside.

YOUR SCHOOL RUN

A familiar driver, with office support

You can request the same driver for your child's school run. If a genuine problem makes a replacement necessary, the office arranges a suitable approved driver and informs you. Drivers assigned to our school service complete KB's school-transport induction and office approval, with a briefing on the agreed journey and handover plan.

Families can book directly, and school or council commission enquiries are also welcome. Each arrangement is agreed on its own requirements.
