University of Roehampton student travel

Private hire to and from Heathrow, Gatwick, campus and accommodation. Enjoy free airport-arrivals meet-and-greet and flight tracking. Contact our 24-hour office for a quote based on your journey.

Find the right destination

Choose the right campus or accommodation

The University of Roehampton’s main campus is on Roehampton Lane, SW15 5PU. Whitelands College has a separate arrival near Holybourne Avenue. Your course location, accommodation and key-collection point may be different places.

Use your university or accommodation arrival instructions to identify the hall, reception or entrance. Kingston University’s Roehampton Vale campus is a different institution and destination, so “Roehampton” alone is not enough for a booking.

Airport plans

Heathrow: arrivals and departures

For a Heathrow arrival, give the office your terminal, flight number, UK landing date and actual hall or college address. We track your flight and offer free meet-and-greet at arrivals for airport-to-university and airport-to-home journeys. Agree the meeting point and a fallback contact in advance; allow time to collect luggage after landing. KB Cars is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

Meet-and-greet does not include unlimited free waiting. Ask the office about applicable waiting and airport charges before booking.

Airport plans

Gatwick: arrivals and departures

For Gatwick, specify North or South Terminal and whether you are travelling to or from main campus, Whitelands or private accommodation. Airport arrivals include free meet-and-greet and flight tracking; applicable waiting and airport charges are separate.

For a departure, work backwards from your airline’s reporting requirements with the office when agreeing a pickup time.

Plan the details

Plan your student journey

We can arrange airport and station transfers, term-start journeys, visits and graduations, with family or companions welcome.

Choose the arrival point

Name the hall, reception or campus entrance and check key-collection hours. Tell the office about access instructions and any extra stop before booking.

Match the vehicle to your group

Count passengers, suitcases and cabin bags together, including term-start belongings. An estate is an option for extra luggage; ask about a six-passenger vehicle or enquire about seven or more seats. The office will confirm a suitable arrangement for your group and load.

Agree the journey

Discuss your fare, meeting plan, return and any stops or assistance. An enquiry, quote or payment alone is not confirmation: KB confirms a booking by SMS and/or email.

Other ways to travel

Compare the whole journey

Barnes station provides a rail approach with a final walk or bus leg. The university identifies buses 265, 419 and 493 for its main-campus approach. Putney Bridge and Southfields Underground stations also need an onward connection; neither is at the campus door.

Compare the complete journey to your hall, including luggage, changes and the final walk. University coaches, shuttles or subsidised transfers, where offered, have their own eligibility and booking terms. Check the university’s current arrival information before choosing a private-hire journey.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions before booking

Answers on accommodation, changes, luggage and fares.

Can the driver collect my accommodation keys?

Key collection or access to residential buildings is not automatically included. Confirm collection times and the correct reception with your accommodation team, then discuss any transport implications with the office. Keep your passport, visa and tenancy documents with you; they are not needed for a travel enquiry.

Is KB Cars part of the university’s transport scheme?

No. KB Cars is an independent private-hire provider, and no university discount is offered here. University coaches, shuttles or subsidised transfers have separate eligibility and booking terms; check the university’s current offer before choosing a private-hire alternative.

What if my flight or key-collection time changes?

Tell the office and, if relevant, your accommodation team as soon as your plans change. We track flights and provide free meet-and-greet for airport arrivals, but waiting and airport charges may still apply.

Ask the office about any revised arrangements and charges for changes, waiting, parking or cancellation. Acknowledgment of a change request is not acceptance: the office must agree the change and confirm it.

Can I arrange a return to Heathrow or Gatwick?

Yes. You can enquire about travel in either direction. For an airport departure, give the office your pickup address, terminal, airline reporting requirement, passengers and luggage so you can agree a suitable pickup time. The office must confirm the journey; a fixed road time or arrival guarantee is not offered.

Can I bring a child seat or request one?

Yes. You can bring and fit your own suitable child seat, or ask KB to supply one. The £3 offer applies to airport journeys and non-airport pre-bookings over £50. Local and short-notice requests are subject to availability; for non-airport bookings of £50 or less, ask the office about the price.

Tell the office the child’s relevant height, weight and seat needs, and confirm suitability, the number of seats and the total seat charge before booking.

What if I need to carry bulky items?

Tell the office about furniture or other large objects before booking so the load can be discussed. A large passenger vehicle is not automatically a moving service. Undeclared bulky loads may incur extra charges, and the driver is not expected to load undeclared large objects.

How do I get a fare for my journey?

Ask the office for a quote using your full pickup and destination addresses, date and time, passenger numbers and vehicle or luggage requirements. The price can vary with travel time, including peak periods; a postcode alone does not establish the fare.

For a return, confirm each leg and whether the driver will wait. Ask what the quote includes and what waiting, parking or other agreed extras would cost. Confirm the price and arrangements before booking.

Travel with the right support

Enquiries, equipment and assistance

Enquiries are welcome for journeys anywhere, including outside London. Advance booking gives us more time to arrange your journey, but short-notice enquiries are welcome too; availability may be limited, particularly outside London.

We can carry folding wheelchairs, but currently have no wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Tell the office the folded size, other luggage and any assistance you need so we can agree a suitable arrangement.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free. Let the office know about the help you need beforehand so we can arrange a driver able to assist. An additional escort to or inside a building, shopping centre or flat depends on the task and may carry a charge; agree its scope and any fee with the office.
