KB CARS · STUDENT TRAVEL
Travel between Heathrow or Gatwick and your Royal Holloway hall or Egham campus. Airport arrivals include free meet-and-greet and flight tracking; waiting and airport charges may apply. Ask our 24-hour office for a quote based on your journey and vehicle needs.
Find the right destination
Royal Holloway’s Egham campus is on Egham Hill, Egham, TW20 0EX. This guide covers Egham, not the university’s central London locations. Give us your hall or building and its arrival instructions, rather than the university name alone.
University guidance identifies a drop-off area for private-hire vehicles and families through the main entrance, on the left opposite Founder’s Square. Check your arrival instructions: this does not mean a KB vehicle can wait there or drive to every residence.
Airport journeys
Book an airport journey to your Egham hall or arrange a return to Heathrow. For arrivals, tell the office your terminal, flight number and UK landing date so your flight can be tracked and a meeting point agreed. KB Cars is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your booking information.
As an alternative, bus 8 links Heathrow Terminal 5 with Royal Holloway on Egham Hill. If you land at another terminal, check the airport connection as well as the onward walk or journey to your hall.
Airport journeys
Arrange a Gatwick collection to your hall or another Egham address, or enquire about a journey back to the airport. Tell us which terminal you need and agree the meeting or collection point with the office.
If comparing public transport, plan the rail or bus journey to Egham and the final campus leg too. Consider the connections, especially with a late arrival or heavy luggage; the direct Heathrow Terminal 5 bus is not a Gatwick option.
Plan your journey
From term-start arrivals to station transfers, visits and graduations, the office can help plan your student journey and return.
Name the hall, reception or campus entrance, check key-collection hours and share relevant access instructions. Let us know if you need an extra stop.
Students can travel with family or companions. Ask about a saloon or estate, a six-passenger vehicle, or a larger vehicle for seven or more. Give the office passenger numbers and the number and sizes of suitcases and cabin bags, plus any pushchair or other bulky item, so the combined load can be checked.
Discuss the fare, any airport charges and your meeting plan. An enquiry, quote or payment alone does not confirm a car: KB confirms a booking by SMS and/or email.
Other ways to travel
Egham station is not inside the campus. The university’s RHU shuttle is a separate onward connection with its own timetable and eligibility conditions. Check its operation on your travel date, including weekends and university holidays, and allow for reaching your hall after getting off.
University arrival support, coaches and subsidised transfers have their own eligibility and booking terms. Check Royal Holloway’s current arrangements before choosing. KB Cars is independent of the university and its transport schemes.
GOOD TO KNOW
Practical answers for your journey to or from Egham.
No. It identifies the wider Egham site, not where you will be waiting. Give your hall or building and the accessible vehicle approach supplied by the university. Agree a collection point for your return rather than asking the driver to search residential blocks.
No. KB Cars is independent, and this page does not offer a university discount. University coaches, shuttles and subsidised transfers have separate eligibility and booking terms; check the institution’s current offer before choosing a private-hire journey.
Tell the office as soon as possible, and contact your accommodation team if reception or key-collection hours are affected. Request any change to your journey through the office and agree any revised arrangements and charge; acknowledgement of your request is not acceptance of the change.
For airport arrivals we offer free meet-and-greet and track your flight, whether you are travelling home or to university. Confirm the terminal, flight number, UK arrival date and meeting instructions. Free meet-and-greet does not include unlimited free waiting: ask about applicable waiting, parking, airport and cancellation charges.
Yes. Enquire about either direction and the office will confirm availability and arrangements. For an airport departure, give your pickup address and terminal and allow for your airline’s reporting requirement, as well as the passengers and luggage travelling.
Yes. You can bring and fit your own suitable child seat, or ask KB to supply one by pre-booking. The offer is £3 for airport journeys and non-airport pre-bookings over £50. Local and short-notice supply depends on availability; for non-airport bookings of £50 or less, check the price with the office. Discuss the child’s seat requirements, suitability, number of seats and total charge before booking.
Tell the office about furniture or other large objects before booking. A large passenger vehicle is not automatically a moving service. Undeclared bulky loads may incur extra charges, and the driver is not expected to help load them.
Ask the office for a quote based on your full pickup and destination addresses, travel date and time, passengers, vehicle and luggage needs. A postcode alone does not establish the fare, and prices can vary with travel time, including peak periods.
For a return, discuss each leg and whether you want the driver to wait. Ask what is included and what waiting, parking or other agreed extras would cost; confirm the price and arrangements before booking.
Travel with the right support
Enquiries are welcome for journeys anywhere, including outside London. Advance booking gives us more time to arrange your journey, but short-notice enquiries are welcome and depend on an available car.
We can carry folding wheelchairs, but do not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Tell the office the folded dimensions, other luggage and your boarding or assistance needs so we can discuss a suitable arrangement.
Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free. Tell the office beforehand so we can arrange a driver able to help. If you need an optional escort to or inside a building, shopping centre or flat, discuss the scope and any charge with the office; the cost depends on the details.
