University of Surrey airport transfers and student travel

Travel between Heathrow or Gatwick and your Surrey campus or accommodation in Guildford. Enjoy free airport-arrivals meet-and-greet and flight tracking; waiting and airport charges may apply. Contact our 24-hour office for a quote based on your journey.

Your Surrey destination

Stag Hill and Manor Park are different arrivals

The University of Surrey is in Guildford. GU2 7XH is the general Stag Hill campus postcode, not a drop-off address for every hall. Manor Park is a separate destination: the block, approach road and key-collection instructions matter.

Check whether you need to go to a reception first or directly to your accommodation. Give the office the actual address, entrance and any current vehicle-access instructions. A pedestrian route or postal address does not necessarily identify an entrance a car can use.

Heathrow

Heathrow to or from the University of Surrey

RailAir 2 is a coach alternative serving The Chase, University of Surrey, though the stop is not at every hall’s door. Check the operator for your terminal, travel date, tickets and luggage rules. For a private-hire enquiry, give us your Heathrow terminal and the hall or reception address; for an arrival, include your flight number and UK landing date. KB Cars is registered with the ICO; our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your booking information.

Gatwick

Gatwick to or from the University of Surrey

GWR’s North Downs route connects Gatwick Airport with Guildford. Check the current timetable and plan the onward journey to Stag Hill or Manor Park as well as the train. For a private-hire quote, tell the office your terminal and actual accommodation destination.

Plan your journey

A suitable car and the right arrival point

The office can help plan your journey, including companions, luggage, extra stops and your return.

Choose the arrival point

Name the hall, reception or campus entrance, check key-collection hours and tell us about any vehicle-access instructions or extra stop.

Match the vehicle to your group

A saloon may suit an ordinary journey; ask about an estate for extra luggage or a six-passenger vehicle for a group. Seven- and eight-plus-passenger vehicles are available to enquire about. Tell the office how many people are travelling, including family or companions, and the number and size of suitcases and other items, so we can confirm a suitable vehicle for everyone and their luggage.

Agree the arrangements

Discuss the fare, airport charges, meeting point and any return. An enquiry or quote does not confirm a car: KB confirms a booking by SMS and/or email.

Other ways to travel

Compare the whole journey

Compare a coach or train and the final bus or walk with private hire to an agreed arrival point. Luggage, companions and reception opening hours can make a difference to your choice.

Check the university’s current Airport Welcome information before paying for separate transport. Its welcome transport has its own dates, eligibility and booking conditions. September welcome shuttles are not evidence of a year-round free service. KB Cars is not part of the university scheme.

GOOD TO KNOW

University of Surrey travel questions

Answers to practical questions about your journey.

Will a Guildford station arrival get me to Manor Park?

Not by itself. Plan the final local connection to your block or key-collection reception. If you would like a separate private-hire station pickup, give the office your station meeting point and destination; it is not automatically part of an airport journey.

Is KB Cars part of the university’s transport scheme?

No. KB Cars is not affiliated with the university’s transport scheme, and this guide does not offer a university discount. University coaches, shuttles or subsidised transfers have their own eligibility and booking terms; check the current offer before paying for private hire.

What if my flight or key-collection time changes?

Tell the office and, where appropriate, your accommodation team as soon as plans change. The office can discuss revised arrangements and charges. Acknowledging your request is not acceptance: the change is accepted when the office confirms that it has agreed to it. For a time-critical change, call the office if your message has not been acknowledged.

For airport arrivals, we offer free meet-and-greet and track your flight for journeys to university or home. Agree the terminal, flight number, UK arrival date, meeting instructions and a fallback contact in advance. Meet-and-greet does not include unlimited free waiting: ask about applicable waiting, parking, airport and cancellation charges.

Can I arrange a return to Heathrow or Gatwick?

Yes. You can enquire about travel in either direction. For a departure, give the office your pickup address, terminal, passengers, luggage and the airline’s reporting requirement so you can agree a suitable pickup plan. Availability and the journey must be confirmed by the office.

Can I bring a child seat or request one?

Yes. You can bring and fit your own suitable child seat, or ask KB to supply one by pre-booking. The £3 offer applies to airport journeys and non-airport pre-bookings over £50. Local and short-notice requests depend on availability; for other bookings, check the price with the office. Discuss the child’s seat requirements, suitability, number of seats and total charge before booking.

What if I need to carry bulky items?

Tell the office about furniture or other large objects before booking so the load can be discussed. A large passenger vehicle is not automatically a moving service. Undeclared bulky loads may incur extra charges, and the driver is not expected to load them.

How do I get a fare for my journey?

Contact the office for a quote based on your full pickup and destination addresses, date and time, passengers and vehicle or luggage needs. Prices can vary with travel time, including peak periods; a postcode alone does not establish the fare.

For a return, discuss each leg and whether the driver will wait. Ask what the quote includes and what waiting, parking or other agreed extras would cost. Agree the price and arrangements before booking.

Travel with support

Availability, equipment and assistance

We welcome enquiries for journeys anywhere, including outside London, whether for term start, a visit, graduation or a station transfer. Book ahead where possible to give the office more time to arrange your journey; short-notice enquiries are welcome, subject to an available car.

We can carry folding wheelchairs in a suitable vehicle, but do not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Tell the office the folded dimensions, other luggage, boarding requirements and any help you need so we can discuss a suitable arrangement.

Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair are free. Let the office know your needs beforehand so we can arrange a driver able to help. An optional escort to or inside a building, shopping centre or flat depends on the task and may carry a charge; agree its scope and any fee with the office.
