FIRST-TIME BOOKING GUIDE

A first-time guide to pre-booked minicabs Book before you travel

A minicab must be booked rather than hailed. Contact our 24-hour office for a quote based on your journey and the arrangements you need. No app installation is required.

THE ESSENTIALS

How pre-booking works

In London, a private-hire minicab must be booked through a licensed operator. KB Cars can help plan your collection, vehicle, stops and return before you travel.

A quote sets out the price and scope of your journey. Once the office accepts your booking, it sends confirmation by SMS and/or email, including driver and vehicle details to check before boarding.

PREPARE YOUR JOURNEY

From enquiry to collection

A few clear details help the office arrange a suitable journey and avoid confusion at pickup.

Choose your collection point

Give the full collection address and destination. At a large site, name the building, entrance or meeting point. Share private access details in the booking conversation and stay reachable so the office can coordinate a safe, lawful stop if needed.

Describe your journey and needs

Give the date, time, passenger count and luggage, including sizes or unusual items. Mention flight or train details, extra stops and a return plan where relevant. Tell the office about any vehicle preference, child seat, pet or assistance needed so it can discuss a suitable arrangement. KB Cars is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle booking information.

Check your confirmation

When your booking is accepted, check the collection details and time on the SMS or email confirmation. Before boarding, compare the driver identity and vehicle registration with it.

If your return time is uncertain You can contact the office when you are ready, subject to car availability; reserve a driver to wait, with chargeable waiting under the agreed terms; or arrange a separate approximate return and contact the office if delayed. Waiting or changes can affect the cost of a separate return, which does not automatically retain your outward driver or vehicle.

GOOD TO KNOW

First-time minicab booking questions

Know what makes a booking confirmed and what to do if your plans or vehicle details change.

Can I hail a KB minicab from the street?

No. London private-hire minicabs must be pre-booked through a licensed operator. Contact KB Cars with your journey details and wait for confirmation rather than approaching a vehicle without a booking.

What is the difference between an enquiry and a confirmed booking?

An enquiry asks the office to assess your arrangements; a quote sets out the price and scope. Your booking is confirmed when KB sends acceptance by SMS and/or email. An enquiry, quote, payment attempt or message on its own is not confirmation.

What if the driver or vehicle does not match?

Do not board an unverified vehicle. Compare the driver identity and vehicle registration with your confirmation, and contact the office for verification if details are missing or do not match.

Can I change the journey after it is booked?

Yes. The booker or authorised contact can request a change through the office, including a different time, address, stop, passenger, vehicle or terminal. Agree any revised charge and wait for the office to accept the change and send confirmation; an acknowledged message or app request is not acceptance. An app request may need approval, particularly after driver assignment. For a time-critical change, call the office if your message has not been acknowledged.

Can I arrange a child seat or help with my journey?

Yes. You can bring a suitable child seat or ask KB to arrange one when pre-booking; availability and suitability must be confirmed. Tell the office the relevant child and seat requirements.

Tell the office what help you need. Guidance to the car and loading ordinary bags or a folding wheelchair can be arranged without charge. An additional escort inside a building is assessed separately, with any cost agreed in advance. KB does not currently have wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
